an investigation of the effect of lesson study on teaching motivation and self-efficacy of physical education teachers in piranshahr city

the present quasi-experimental study investigated the effect of using lesson study as an example of collaborative research in the classroom on the teaching motivation and self-efficacy of physical education teachers. for data collection, descriptive, case study, and qualitative methods were applied. the statistical population consisted of all physical education teachers in piranshahr city. 20 subjects were selected as the sample by purposive sampling method and were assigned to two groups: experimental (10 subjects) and control (10 subjects). data were analyzed by covariance analysis and spss software. data were collected by a questionnaire and interview. qualitative data consisted of active observation of physical education classes during the lesson study process, interview with physical education teachers, review of the lesson plans, analysis of physical education lessons, and teachers’ notes. the results of covariance analysis revealed that lesson study can be brought up as a desired pattern to create teaching motivation and self-efficacy of teachers. moreover, given executive barriers and problems, some solutions were provided for each of them.
